Abstract

Intra-aortic infusion of cortisol and PGF2α into the 21 day pregnant rabbit will initiate parturition. PGF2α is able to depress plasma progesterone concentration more rapidly than cortisol. The possibility that cortisol acts by stimulating PGF2α synthesis as reported in other species is discussed.
