Abstract
A procedure is described for cannulating a hypophysial stalk portal vessel and perfusing the pars distalis of the rat. A portal vessel can be cannulated with a microcannula having an outside diameter at the tip of 20-40 μ. It could not be predicted which part of the pars distalis would receive the infusate from the cannulated portal vessel; however, this may be in part a consequence of the particular conditions used here.
