Abstract
A unique open ward in a pediatric hospital is the setting for a successfully operating psychosomatic diagnostic and treatment program. Children from ages 2 to 18 years with a wide range of psychosomatic and psychiatric conditions are cared for. The basic structuring of the program of the milieu is in the form of a token economy. In addition, all patients are involved in an intensive program of individual, group, family, and ancillary therapies.
