Abstract

The enzyme which catalyzes the hydrolysis of fructose-2,6-P2 has been partially purified from rat liver. The product has been identified as fructose-6-P. The enzyme requires Mg++, and the K0.5 for fructose-2, 6-P2 varies from 25 - 100 μM, depending upon the preparation. After treatment with cAMP dependent protein kinase the enzyme is activated and the K0.5 for the substrate is lowered to 7 μM.
