Abstract

Aldosterone may be analyzed as the 18,21-diacetate derivative in gas chromatography. Results appear to be reproducible on multiple analyses with small quantities of steroid. The product recovered from the column is similar to the 21-monoacetate, but is not identical as shown by paper chromatography and the failure of the compound to be reacetylated to the diacetate.
