Abstract

Lanthanide shift reagents (LSR's) owe their popularity to the fact that they alter the PMR spectra of organic molecules in a seemingly easily interpretable fashion. However, not all the mechanisms causing the shifts and line broadenings are fully understood as yet. The purpose of this work is to provide additional information concerning the shift mechanisms and the mechanisms causing line broadening in NMR experiments involving LSR's.
