Abstract
Bacterial skin infections normally pose no threat to an immunocompetent patient but may threaten a seropositive one. For this reason, skin biopsies and cultures should be performed in any immunocompromised patients where bacterial infections are present. The epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, and treatment options for some of the many bacterial skin infections that occur in HIV infection are discussed.
