Cardiac tamponade following varicella

Abstract

An 18-month-old girl presented with cardiac tamponade five weeks after varicella. An emergency pericardiocentesis was performed and, subsequently, an anterior pericardiectomy. She eventually made a complete recovery following corticosteroid treatment.
