Abstract

The authors propose in this paper to develop the themes of virion and putative nonvirion antigens in terms of the following three experimental approaches: (1) the identification of virion polypeptides which bear particular antigenic determinants, (2) an examination of the kinetics of biosynthesis of viral proteins during single cycle viral growth in tissue culture, and (3) the combined application of immunogenetic and biochemical analyses in defining the molecular nature of those virus related antigens which can be expressed in normal tissues of virus negative mice, provided that the genetic constitution of the mouse is appropriate. A general objective of all these studies is to determine the number and nature of the proteins specified by the MuLV genome.
