Abstract

Commotio cordis has achieved markedly increased attention because of the increased awareness of sudden death that occurs during sports in the playing field [1, 2]. The rising popularity of lacrosse and the widespread media attention to several prominent lacrosse deaths due to commotio cordis have also put this phenomenon in the forefront of sports safety.
