note = "Funding Information: High-quality health policies have the potential to improve uptake and use of evidence-based and cost-effective drug, device, and behavioural therapies in HF, and influence large segments of the population with high economic implications. Nevertheless, without appropriate scrutiny and rigorous frameworks for assessment in place, the effects of these interventions remain uncertain, and unintended adverse consequences may be overlooked. Current approaches to the study of health policies in HF are limited in scope; prospectively designed, randomized clinical trials of health policy interventions are needed in the provision of safe and effective care in HF. Conflict of interest: M.V. is supported by the NHLBI T32 postdoctoral training grant (T32HL007604) and is a consultant to Bayer AG and Baxter Healthcare. A.P. is supported by the Texas Health Resources Clinical Scholarship. The remaining authors have no conflicts of interest to disclose.",
