Abstract

In this case report, a combination of septicemia, anemia, and acute volume overload was initially thought to have caused dilated cardiomyopathy with pulmonary edema; however, vigorous therapy for these effected minimal improvement. Subsequently, severe thyrotoxicosis was recognized and treatment was followed by slow but complete reversal of cardiac dysfunction that paralleled medical amelioration of hyperthyroidism.
