Abstract

A versatile, enantiospecific approach to functionalized cyclitols from (-)-quinic acid is illustrated by a synthesis of D-myo-inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate, the calcium-mobilizing intracellular second messenger of the phosphatidylinositol cycle.
