Abstract

The high prevalence of hypertension in African Americans persists. Although many theories have been postulated in efforts to determine the major underlying cause, it is more likely that this phenomenon has no single cause but, rather, many contributing factors. This article reviews many of the factors associated with hypertension in African Americans.
