High performance 2:17 type SmCo permanent magnets with low temperature coefficients

Abstract

The high performance internal-temperature-compensated 2:17 type SmCo sintered magnet with composition of Sm0.56Gd0.3Dy0.14(TM)7.22 (TM = Co0.68Fe0.22Cu0.08Zr0.02) was successfully prepared. The optimum magnetic and temperature properties are: Br = 8800 Gs, bHc = 8200 Oe, (BH)max = 18 MG Oe-1, α20-100°C = -7 X 10-6/°C. It was found that the domain wall pinning in Gd compensated magnets is more predominant than that in Dy compensated magnets.
