Abstract

Hip instability following joint arthroplasty is relatively a common postoperative complication and is now second to aseptic loosening as a cause of revision surgery. Multifactorial in etiology, the exact cause should be identified before revision surgery to avoid disastrous complications and prevent repetitive dislocations. This case report illustrates and describes a new method of diagnosing hip instability with plain radiographs of the hip done in traction and abduction.
