How do I become a surgeon scientist?

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

A surgeon scientist identifies a clinical problem, discusses the methods to address the problem with the “basic science” team, directs the research and according to his/ her level of education, he/she participates in the laboratory actively. As a result, the surgeon scientist is a bridge between the laboratory and the clinic for the translation of research discoveries from basic science into practical applications that enhance human health and well-being. In this chapter, various aspects of surgical science and the surgeon scientist are discussed.
