Abstract

Wei et al. find that Fap is an osteogenic suppressor that could be targeted to promote bone formation and inhibit bone resorption. Genetic and pharmacological inhibition of Fap attenuates aging- and ovariectomy-induced bone loss in mice, while Osteolectin functions as an endogenous inhibitor of Fap to promote mineralization in zebrafish.
