Abstract

Although increased plasma homocysteine was found to be an independent risk factor for new coronary events in older persons with and without prior CAD in the present prospective study, treating increased plasma homocysteine levels to reduce the risk of coronary events must be considered experimental pending the result of on-going interventional studies. Other modifiable risk factors must be treated.
