Abstract

The measurement of two-particle correlations of direct photons in central 208Pb + 208Pb collisions at 158A GeV was performed. The interferometry provided to explore the space-time dimensions of the emitting source created in elementary particle or heavy ion collisions. It was observed that the yield of soft direct photons, KT<300 MeV/c was extracted from the correlation strength and compared to theoretical calculations. The measured yields attributed the dominant contribution in the pT region to the hadronic phase.
