Ultrasound remains the fetal imaging modality of choice. With advances in technology, MR has become a safe and useful adjunct to the evaluation of suspected fetal anomalies seen on ultrasound. The future may hold further advances such as fetal real time capability and even quicker acquisition time to make it possible to visualize the heart. Any fetal MR program should have excellent coordination between obstetrical and radiology departments to aid in not only antenatal diagnosis, but patient counseling, clinical management, and followup.
