Abstract

A simplified schema for the diagnosis and classification of the hyperlipidemias is provided, along with explicit guidelines for when to employ diet and drug treatment, with a distinction made between “normal” cholesterol levels in our society and the “ideal.” (Arch Surg 113:55-60, 1978).
