Abstract

As part of an extensive program to determine effects of maternal folate deficiency on pregnancy wastage, the folate status of mothers of severely malformed fetuses has been evaluated. The observations reported here do not confirm reports of others that folate deficiency is much more frequent in mothers of malformed fetuses than in the general obstetric population.
