Abstract

Solid organ and stem cell transplantations are therapeutic options for selected diseases. Allograft rejection and opportunistic infection are major causes of morbidity and mortality in transplant recipients. Molecular methods are increasingly used in the diagnosis and management of infection in transplant recipients. Application of these methods to the management of common posttransplant infections is presented.
