Abstract

Cutaneous surgery can be enjoyable and gratifying when performed correctly. When performed without appropriate skill if can lead to complications that threaten cosmesis and the health of the involved skin and underlying structures. A good working knowledge of closure materials and how to use them is essential in developing effective cutaneous surgical skills. Remembering to execute proper placement of appropriate suture materials can ensure wound closure and efficiently remove tension from healing wound edges, thereby maximizing closure and cosmesis.
