Abstract

To the Editor: The article by Podolsky et al. in the May 28 issue contains the statement The recent production of an antibody for GT-II (Weiser MM. Unpublished data) may permit the development of a more widely applicable assay.1 Unfortunately, we do not have an antibody that is specific for galactosyltransferase isoenzyme II (GT-II). We have been able to produce antibodies to galactosyltransferase, but we have not produced one specific for GT-II. A major problem in the production of antibodies to galactosyltransferase has been that immunoglobulins accompany the purification of galactosyltransferase through two specific-affinity column-chromatographic steps.
