Abstract
The therapeutic efficacy of physostigmine in treating phencyclidine toxicity is reported. Significant improvement, assessed on the Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale performed by a rater blind to the drug treatment, was seen in all seven cases examined. These results demonstrate the need for further clinical study of physostigmine as a diagnostic test and therapeutic agent for phencyclidine intoxication.
