Abstract

Ontogenesis and localization expression of genes encoding for the nuclear receptors for oxysterols (lxrα and lxrβ) were investigated in human and mouse placenta during gestation. Both mRNAs were detectable in the placentation throughout the gestation (from 7 days postcoitum and 6th week of gestation in mouse and human, respectively) by Northern blots or RT-PCR experiments. Lxrα showed a higher accumulation in the mouse yolk sac. In situ hybridization pointed a specific expression of lxrα in the human amniotic membranes.
