Abstract

Crystals of the periplasmic ribose receptor for chemotaxis and transport in Escherichia coli have been examined by X-ray analysis. The crystals grow as elongated rectangular prisms with the symmetry of the orthorhombic space group P212121. The unit cell dimensions are a = 74.6 A ̊, b = 88.8 A ̊ and c = 40.1 A ̊. There is one molecule of molecular weight 28,500 per asymmetric unit.
