Abstract
Advances in lower extremity prosthetic components have provided devices that may help amputees improve function and activity. The criteria for choosing a selected component over another are not well established. Few scientific studies have provided objective information regarding the function of a limited number of prosthetic components. However, for any given amputee, the choice of a given component may only be determined by assessing multiple factors, including age of the patient, activity level and specific function, as well as the specific features of the component.
