note = "Funding Information: cause it failed to beat placebo. I was not sure I could support that! Dr Temple and Dr Richard Crout, from the Center for Drugs, agreed that I could have 50% of my time doing squid axon research. Furthermore, they purchased an expensive minicomputer to support my research and created a job for a programmer who was working with me. My research grants supported another laboratory support person, and the Biophysics Laboratory gave me space at the National Institutes of Health and at Woods Hole. This agreement to continue doing research was honored by the FDA and Dr Temple during the entire 23 years of my tenure. Of course, 50% time for research was a joke because I now had 2 full-time jobs and no weekends off!",
