Abstract

The overall description of a Clinical Data Management System (CDMS) designed to support the treatment of Urolithiasis is provided herein. The operating environment of CDMS is the TANDEM-16 highly reliable transaction processing multiple computer facility. The system interface supporting the collection of the patient information required for the study is introduced from a logical perspective omitting implementation details. The rationale permitting the user to view the data collection process as a hierarchical or relational process is developed. The TANDEM-16 ENFORM relational retrieval facility is described providing an overview of the retrieval process supporting the clinical user. Finally, the generality of the system is shown and areas of continuing work are outlined.
