Abstract

The π- π- π- interference of pions produced in central Pb+Pb collisions at 158 GeV per nucleon was studied. It was observed that the contribution of the genuine three-pion correlation, although small, is substantial. The observed correlation is greater than reported for S + Pb minimum bias collisions, but not as large as expected for a fully chaotic symmetric source.
