Abstract

Data implicating TGF-β in the development of active peripheral tolerance by T regulatory cells is increasing. In organ transplantation, the peripheral and intragraft TGF-β status as well as the functional and histologic characterization of intragraft T regulatory cells by TGF-β may provide important steps toward a tolerance assay to monitor allograft recipients.
