Case 34-1994: A 38-Year-Old Alcoholic Man with Six Months of Increasing Hoarseness and a Laryngeal Mass

Presentation of Case A 38-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of progressive hoarseness. The patient had been in stable health until six months earlier, when hoarseness developed and gradually worsened, especially during the two months before admission. One month before admission he came to the emergency department, where physical examination showed a left supraglottic mass and irregularity of the right vocal cord; no cervical lymphadenopathy was found.
