Abstract

Nayak et al (1) utilized single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), magnetic resonance (MR) imaging and radiolabeled anti-human epidermal growth factor receptor (HER) 1 and 2 targeted monoclonal antibodies to demonstrate HER cell surface expression in malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) in mouse models; translating the integration of functional and structural imaging with radiolabeled targeted molecular probes will potentially enable better selection of patients and more effective therapeutic delivery, with fewer adverse effects and more cost effectiveness, in the era of personalized medicine.
